What a weekend! We had our first family function at our house on Saturday to celebrate Ben's 4th and Henry's 2nd birthday. What...an...experience.

So Henry fell into the cake. I can laugh about that now.

What I can't laugh about is the fact that Ben clogged the toilet, which overflowed 30 minutes before our guests arrived. Not only that, but it was clogged in the septic line so no one could use the toilet or it would overflow in the house. Long story, but thanks for Chad and my trusty father-in-law, all is well again. People actually had to hold it. Ben however went in the woods, which he does even when the toilets are working. Some party! It was a great time, despite the poo issue.  It was much more disgusting that I care to get into, and those guys deserve some major credit for all their work. Now we are on tp patrol and have to monitor his usage. I was sure there was a dinosaur in the pipe.

The boys received some terrific presents, and it was just the best to have our family here to celebrate. They were tickled, and so was I. I will laugh about it all, in 20 years. Food was yummy too and the cake was marble with white icing. They loved the dinosaurs and are still on a sugar rush. We lucked out on the weather too. It was upper 60's, so we had a nice breeze and they played outside for a bit. My balloon wreath came out pretty great, if I do say. It added a nice pop of color to the door and Ben said it was "awesome!".

I took the boys to the park today because it was almost 70! They played hard, shared a snack, and then crashed hard tonight. They have played with every birthday toy already.

My refurbished desk is almost done. I placed the glass tiles today and need to grout them tomorrow. The big reveal is on it's way!

Cold Day at the Park

We tried for a hike at the county park today, but it was closed at 9:30am. Go figure. We took a side road to a local park, and two deer ran out in front of us. We didn't hit them, or even come close so all is well. We actually stopped to watch them meander across the road and run into the woods. Deer are so beautiful in nature. It's exciting. Peaceful. Of course only when they are within a safe distance from any hood ornaments.

After the park we went to McDonalds and waited for lunch at 11am. Yes, waited. I thought we could grab a quick bite and then head home, but Ben had to eat inside and he wanted a happy meal. No Play Place at this one. Why there is a McDonalds without a Play Place is beyond me. They were really good while we waited the 15 minutes or so. They made friends with the elderly folk who were trying to have a quiet moment with their coffee.

Saturday night we watched the ND game and then Auntie Donna came over for dinner and movie - Snow White and the Huntsman. Holy cow, good movie. Must rent. But back to ND...Great game. Close call and triple overtime. It was one of those games that a normal fan (not me because I hate a close game and the anxiety that builds in my belly) would have loved. Wouldn't you know it, we had tickets and sold them. Easy to sell with a 8-0 record and for a team that they should have beat no question. So they did win, but as you can tell by the triple OT, it was close. Well, at least we were warm when we watched it.

So while we didn't venture out too much this weekend, the boys were plenty busy. Enough to get them to bed at 7:30 and I don't hear a peep. Usually it's Henry screaming at Ben to turn the light on, followed by Ben jumping out of bed to do so, followed by Henry throwing everything out of his bed, followed by Ben throwing everything else into Henry's bed, finally followed by myself of Chad going in to break up the party and Ben saying it was all Henry. Max, what a good boy. He sleeps through it all.

Halloween 2012

Our little marathon runner, pea pod and Anakin Skywalker.

The weather was cold and rainy, but let nothing stand in the way of our candy! I mean, their candy. Max didn't fit into that costume. He was folded in half for the most part. Luckily he stayed home with Busia while I took the older two so he didn't have to wear it long.

Ben had the "trick or treat, smell my feet..." part down. Not sure where he learned it, but it was adorable. Henry started at everyone who gave him candy. We had to drag him away at a few houses. One person was dressed as Einstein. Henry said he was an old man and he was scared. Ha! Overall they got some good stuff. No Reese's though. Bummer.

Funny story. Today Ben says to me "Mommy, you are a butt head. Don't worry though, it's a metaphor." That's my boy.

This coming Saturday is the boys birthday party, for the family. It's the first family party we have ever had for them. I'm so thrilled! We are having some yummy meatball sandwiches, salad and of course cake. I might try my hand at a dinosaur cake, or I might acknowledge that cake decorating is not in my skill set and buy one. Yup, that's likely.

Henry went for his 2 year check up this week. He was in the 20th percentile for weight, but 70th for height. That boy eats like a T-Rex, but I guess all his chasing Ben is catching up to him.
