So, what's new?

To those of you who have wondered if my lack of blogging was due to imprisonment or alien abduction, alas I have returned. For the last month, I have been under the weather. I've not felt like writing, but instead have been going to sleep before the sun does. My camera of course has been stowed away in the camera bag as well. I did manage to shoot this video on my cell, so please don't mind the quality (and my goofy laughing in the background). All is well now, so I hope to get back to taking pictures of my growing babies.

We have been keeping very busy lately. This weekend we went to the Race for the Cure and enjoyed a nice stroll with friends. We then headed to the downtown chili cook-off, where Ben played in the park waterfall for about 45 minutes. He had far too much ice cream. So much so that I threw it away when he was playing and when he  came back we told him that birds had swooped down from the trees and took it. Guess what the first thing he told Chad when we got home was? Then he talked about it today too. Darn those birds. Today we traveled about an hour north for a Scottish Festival. We spent three hours there without any tantrum - even from the adults. I did indulge in a scotch egg, although my dear brother, it didn't live up to the one we had at the Maryland Ren Fest.

My favorite part? The kiddo train. They took large plastic barrels and cut the tops out to make train cars. They then hooked them together and were pulled by a John Deer tractor. It looked fairly Kansas, but Ben had to ride three times. He got a kick out of getting so low in the barrel that it looked like he had fallen out. The first time we thought he had. Then we moved to the craft tent where he had a nice green monster painted on his face and made a pirate hat. Oh what a day.

We are quickly approaching my favorite time of year. I wish I could find a can of pumpkin in the store though. I have some yummy recipes, but the shelves are empty right now. I guess I could get an actual pumpkin, bake it, nah I'm tired thinking of that. But if push comes to shove! The weather here has been beautiful. 70's. Love it! Leaves are starting to turn in some places. I will get out my trusty camera for some fall shots.

We went home in August. My grandma passed away. I don't really want to write about it, but because she loved reading this blog, I thought it worth a mention. She was amazing. Loved my boys, and is in many of my greatest memories. I can still hear her answer the phone "Hi, hon" when she knows it's me. I can still picture her perfectly manicured nails and how the boys loved to hold her hands and admire them. I remember how we used to go to lunch when I lived at home. She would always insist I ate more and always paid by pulling the money from her bank envelope. Her Christmas cookies were amazing. She made an entire platter with a dozen kind of cookies. Some were iced - trees, bells. She was such an important part of my life and although the sadness is so strong, wow was I blessed to have her. I'm glad she was able to meet the boys. Although they probably won't remember, for she & I it meant a lot.

I think I'll save the rest for another day. Thanks for sticking in. You knew I'd return!
