Brenna

Brenna was so good for us on Sunday! She looked so cute in her pink dresses, and with icing all over! She turned one in May and will soon be off and running. These are some of my favorites!

First baseball experience

Take me out to the ballgame

Henry found a lady friend. He kept sticking his fingers in her eyes though.

We went to the ballgame last night, and it was so much fun for Ben. He was cheering with the crowds and eating (hoarding) popcorn, ice cream and hot dogs. I have no idea who won, or if anyone even hit the ball. It was just fun seeing Ben so exciting. Henry had his share of hot dogs and ice cream too.

The boys wore their new matching shirts. Their baby sitter made them for them. She is the daughter of my friend, who happens to live around the corner and love watching the boys. She did a great job on the shirts, and we love them!

Happy Dads Day!

Barley corn salad
Homemade chicken fingers
PoolsideOh no, he found it.

The weekend is winding down, and of course I am sad. We spent a lot of time outdoors at the nature center, pool, and backyard. I did bring home a tick with me from the nature center though - second one this year. Stupid bugs. The boys were all good at least.

So Ben will not let go of a plastic spoon and knife from his kitchen set. He carries them every where, including on the potty and to bed. It was a little cow for a while, then other random farm animals. Now, it's cutlery. Awesome child.

He has been quite the character lately too. We asked him where he wanted to live (prompted by our ridiculously expensive water bill for the month of May, and longing to stop paying out the nose for water) and he said Kansas City. Since when does a two year old know any city other than his own?

Henry is getting more vocal and louder each day. Also now that he can sit on his own and rock on his knees, he does NOT wish to be laid down for anything. This includes diaper changes. He fusses, I make a silly face, he giggles, then fusses again. Endless cycle.

So today we had an awesome meal, prepared mostly by me surprisingly! We had homemade chicken fingers, barley corn salad, Chinese cabbage salad, shrimp, and papaw's banana pudding (as close as I could come anyway). We even had two homemade dips for the chicken. It was yummy! Chad picked out the entire meal, and it appears he enjoyed it :0). He also played with the boys in Ben's pool, which warmed up quickly due to the 100 degree temp. He jumped right in anyway. I hope he and our dads had a fabulous father's day!

Baby birdies

These lovely babes are in our tree out front. Mama was nice and close, but I did snap a few before leaving them be. So cute!

Pool boys

I had to snap a couple of pics of the boys in their cute swimwear, before the meltdown. Fun for about an hour anyway!

Ooh bring on Sunday. Chad & a friend worked outside on the sprinklers for a large part of the day. Keith offered to show Chad how to replace heads and fix broken ones, as his way of paying it forward. His neighbor had showed him earlier this season, and now he can show someone else. The world ought to be that way. Sure saves us a few bucks, and now Chad has a new skills under his belt!

Andrea brought over my Kate. I snapped a few shots, but one of my favorites she is wearing angel wings. Her adorable baby chubbiness is too cute. The boys and I also hit the nature center for a bit this morning. It wasn't hot yet, and we had a great time looking for dinosaurs and dragons. They must have all been sleeping today...

Ben has moments where I have to stand back and just smile. He says the craziest things sometimes, but can also be so dang sweet! Today he told me to stop looking at him because he was mad, and then later in the day I must have looked sad because he put his hand on my cheek and said don't worry. I don't know where he picks these things up, but I'm amazed by his vocabulary every day.

Tomorrow we head to the Y pool. Henry has never been, and this year will be quite different for Ben. Even last year he wanted to walk into the water by himself. I cringe every time he lets me hand go, even in ankle deep water. I don't really think that I'm over protective, but maybe I am. I'd rather him walk, when he wants to run. I try to bubble wrap him as best I can with sunscreen, winter hats, seat belts on his bike, rubber padding on the wall corners, and it never seems enough. His personality scares me a bit, if it persists into his teen years. Maybe all two year old boys are daredevils. I only have Ben to compare it to. However, the thought of him driving, or going any where without a responsible adult terrifies me. So Ben, please stay my baby forever. You can live at home until you are 50, and probably after that if you want to. I'll chauffeur you, give you your gummy vitamins, and watch movies with you on Friday night.

Please, take us back to Indiana! We had a wonderful, and far too short trip home for the holiday. We saw many of our friends and family, but as usual there was not enough time to see everyone or spend time with our loved ones. We did make it to the beach, and had amazing weather nearly every day. We watched the parade on memorial day, as is the family tradition. We also were there for my mother-in-law's grand opening of her antique mall in Mishawaka. They have been working around the clock to ready the shop, and it was an amazing opening week. Stop by - you'll be glad you did! My grandma was very excited to see Henry for the first time. I hate that we see her so rarely these days, but cherished every second of our visit. I'm now looking forward to getting all her great grand-babies in one room with her.

We put 2800 miles on the car this week with the drive home, and then to and from the wedding. We left the boys withe the grandparents, but they met us half way after the wedding to save us an extra 10 hours in the car. The boys were such troopers. What great little travelers we have. Henry slept most of the time, and Ben either slept, ate, or watched movies. I will never take another trip without a DVD player again. It was super!

As I said in my earlier post, Chad & I also celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary at the wedding of our friends. It was nice to get all spiffy for a night and dance with my wonderful husband. I even got him to do the cupid shuffle, but I did dance with him to an Elvis song to even the score. He looked so handsome in his tuxedo and his shaved face (I had to force him to do the latter). Here's to many more, my love.
